Road tours have always fascinated people: the excitement of the journey, the adrenalin of improvisation, the feeling of freedom and adventure. And Tuscany is the perfect place to discover or rediscover travelling by road. What are the must-see places? We’ll suggest a few.

Stage 1: the Tuscan seaside: the coast of Versilia and Forte dei Marmi

Let’s begin our tour from the coast. The Versilia coast is one of the most exclusive in Italy and offers experiences and activities for all tastes. Whether sand or rocks, empty beaches or fully equipped resorts, this part of the Tuscan coast will thrill and amaze you. All the more if you allow yourself to be pampered during your stay! Versilia Lido | UNA Esperienze, complete with an elegant spa and wellness centre, is ready to welcome you and help you experience all the magic of Versilia and Forte dei Marmi, one of the most admired and best-loved resorts. Situated between Cinquale and Marina di Pietrasanta, it’s the perfect destination if you want to stop off for a bit of shopping. The UNAWAY Hotel Forte Dei Marmi is situated in a strategic position that’s just right for anyone setting off on a road tour.

Stage 2: beautiful Florence

Let’s continue our tour on to the splendid Florence, a stop that’s an absolute must for your tour. Florence is a real open-air museum: apart from all the many beauties to admire, every corner of the city will amaze you, even its most hidden places. It’s impossible not to stay for a night here. And the stay that awaits you will match the splendours of the city: UNAHOTELS Vittoria Firenze, a hotel designed by the famous architect Fabio Novembre, is situated in the ideal place for enjoying both the city centre and all the areas around it, as well as being easy to reach by car. Or you could opt for the Leone Blu Suites | UNA Esperienze, an exclusive collection of nine unique suites with a harmonious blend of old-time elements and emphatically contemporary features.

Stage 3: Siena and its traditions

Siena is one of the best-loved and most visited cities in Tuscany, a place rich in history and art, but also strong in traditions linked to the contrade (the quarters of the city) and the famous Palio di Siena horse race. Situated in the centre of Tuscany, you can easily reach it by car from Florence. If this is your first time here, you should head straightaway for the heart of the city, the Piazza del Campo, one of Siena’s most symbolic places. Continue on from here to the Duomo, one of the most striking examples of a church in Italian Romanesque-Gothic style. Let yourself soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a stroll through the streets of the city, window-shopping and losing yourself among the colours and coats of arms of the various contrade that you’ll see hanging from the windows and doors of the houses.

Stage 4: to Montepulciano, for greenery and wine

Continue towards the last of our must see places on your road tour through Tuscany: Montepulciano, a town that’s famous throughout the world for its Vino Nobile wine. It stands on a hillside 600 metres above sea level: from this height you can gaze out to infinity over the green Tuscan hills and the landscape of olive groves, vineyards and cypresses. Then there’s the art, the history and … plenty of wine, of course! Relais Villa Grazianella | UNA Esperienze, a hotel that dates back to the late 18th century, nestled in the enchanting Sienese hills, can offer you an immersive experience, with 11 elegant rooms in the Villa and 3 exclusive apartments set among the vineyards of the Fattoria del Cerro winery, together with a wine-tasting room and wine cellar. By the end of your road tour of Tuscany, you’ll be open-mouthed with amazement!
