You've researched locations, found the perfect hotel and booked your flight. As the exciting countdown begins, you will need to think about packing for your trip. It may not be your favourite item on the list of things to do, but it is a necessity.

How to pack all your staff easier and quicker: 5 tips.

We will take you through some tips showing you how to pack and ways to make the process quicker and easier. You don't need a stack of suitcases, just a few new ideas.

1. Plan ahead.

The first step is to create a packing list. Having everything you need to take on holiday written down in front of you makes the whole process run more smoothly. Be sure to check with the airline for the number of bags you can take on board as well as the weight and size limits. Look at the weather forecast or average temperatures and rain or snow figures for the time you will be travelling.

When thinking about packing a suitcase for Italy in colder months, consider that wearing several layers rather than bulky clothes when on holiday will help you use less space as you are packing.

2. Be realistic about how much you need to take.

Most people tend to pack far too many clothes. Think about how many days you are going on holiday and plan the exact amount of clothes that you would normally wear. There is no need to take extra clothing as it will usually go unworn and just becomes a waste of space.

When you arrive, hang your clothes up in the hotel wardrobe and you will be able to wear them more than once. If your accommodation has a laundry service, use it! The best way to pack a suitcase is to not cram too many clothes in it.

3. Use all of the space you have available.

After selecting only the most necessary clothes to take with you, be sure to make the most of all the space you have. Choose the largest bag that you are allowed to take into the cabin and make use of that extra space, too; it's recommended to take all of your important items, devices, toiletries, medicines and a change of clothes on the plane with you.

Don't pack your coat, even in warm weather - you can wear it or carry it onto the plane to save space in your luggage. The temperature on planes is often cool, so you may want to wear a coat during the flight and take an extra cardigan or sweatshirt onto the plane.

4. Roll your clothes.

One of the best packing tips is to roll your clothes up rather than fold them. Rolled clothes will crease less than folded clothes as well as take up less space in your case. Start with the largest items, such as jeans and sweatshirts: fold them in half lengthways and then roll them up tightly. Next, move to smaller items such as T-shirts and shorts, and push all of the items together so that you can fit as many as possible on the bottom layer.

If the clothes are tightly packed together, they won't move around during travel and get creased. Lastly, fill in any spaces with your smallest items, such as underwear and socks. Shoes can be placed upside down or in bags on top of the clothes.

5. Use packing cubes or vacuum packs.

Packing cubes are flexible holders that you can organise your clothes into. We would still recommend rolling your clothes before placing them into the cubes. Your belongings will be kept in place and can be easier to find when you arrive at your accommodation. Vacuum packs are another option, simply place your clothes in the bags and then use your vacuum to remove the excess air.

Your clothes will be more compact and you'll be able to fit more in your case. When considering how to prepare luggage for Italy, think about your return journey and if you will able to use a vacuum when packing for home.
