Three destinations not to be missed with the arrival of the summer
9 May 2024
May is the ideal month to plan a seaside getaway. Why not treat yourself to a few days of stunning beaches and breath-taking views before the intense summer heat and peak tourist season arrive?
If you're unsure about your next destination and need some inspiration, you're in the right place. Here are three perfect spots for enjoying a taste of summer with beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters and exciting attractions.
Forte dei Marmi: beaches and shopping
Forte dei Marmi, a gem of the Versilia coast in Tuscany, is famous for its luxury shopping and splendid sandy beaches. Just imagine strolling barefoot on the fine sands as the sun sets.
Among these we highlight Ronchi beach - a stretch of coastline characterised by crystal clear waters, fine sand and, above all, a unique view of the Apuan Alps. This beach has a particularly noteworthy location immersed in a centuries-old pine forest, making it perfect for those looking for a bit of tranquillity. But it is also well-suited to sports fanatics, as it is a favourite destination for windsurfers and kite surfers.
Fiumetto beach is one of the most exclusive seaside resorts in the area, boasting golden sands and blue waters with a shallow seabed. Offering every comfort, it also boasts a promenade full of shops, bars and high fashion boutiques.
Other beaches to visit are Vittoria Apuana - which offers ample space, services for sports activities and golden sand to stroll on - and Pontile Azzurro, overlooking the clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea and offering tourists a stunning panorama.
For a relaxing weekend in Versilia, consider UNAHOTELS Forte dei Marmi . This hotel is an authentic oasis of well-being, featuring an outdoor pool, white Versilia-style cabanas under which to relax while sipping a cocktail, and red clay tennis courts.
The hotel recently underwent a complete renovation and modernisation, including the introduction of its new Deluxe Rooms, offering eye-catching, welcoming design alongside all the comforts needed for a restorative stay. These new rooms will be available to guests starting from June.
Naples and the Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coastline extending over about 50 km to the south of the Sorrento Peninsula. A famous holiday destination, much loved by tourists from all over the world, it is characterised on one side by steep cliffs, small beaches and suggestive fishing villages; on the other, by lemon groves, terraced vineyards and sumptuous villas that rise along the coastal road.
The beauty of this portion of land is such that in 1997 it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But what are the not-to-be-missed sites along the Amalfi Coast? Surely the city of Amalfi, which gives its name to the entire stretch, famous for its Duomo and for the fragrant IGP lemons, used to make the local limoncello.
Then there is the Terrace of Infinity, a natural balcony located in the gardens of Villa Cimbrone, often considered one of the world's most beautiful spots. For diving enthusiasts, however, we recommend a stop in Punta Campanella: a protected marine area, with its crystal-clear water, located right in front of the island of Capri.
For an itinerary to the Amalfi Coast, you could choose Naples as a starting point. The city, well connected to the rest of Italy by public transport, makes an ideal base for getting around the region.
Here you will find the UNAHOTELS Napoli in the heart of the city and just a few minutes walk from the station, making it a strategic location from which to explore the surrounding areas and the beautiful coastline. The hotel is located inside an elegant historic building near the most interesting attractions in Naples.
The beaches of Cagliari
Cagliari is one of the most fascinating and well-known places in Sardinia. Often overlooked in favor of other island destinations, it surprises those who visit with its mix of historical monuments, stunning landscapes and beautiful beaches.
Of these, the most famous is the Poetto beach, extending over about 8 km from the Sella del Diavolo to the Litorale di Sant'Elena. A real paradise, where you can both relax and discover the local nightlife, including bars and nightclubs.
On the opposite side of the Sella del Diavolo you will find the beaches of Calamosca and Cala Fighera, ideal for those seeking greater tranquillity.
Calamosca has fine white sand and clear waters ideal for snorkelling, while Cala Fighera is known for its high rocky cliffs.
And then there is Cala Regina, a beach in Terra Mala: reachable by car from Cagliari, it is particularly popular among underwater fishing enthusiasts thanks to its seabed and iridescent blue waters.
If you are not a sports fan or are not yet ready to take to the water, the beaches of Cagliari are equally perfect for sunbathing while reading a good book or listening to music. Alternatively, take a stroll along the promenade and enjoy the gentle caress of a summer breeze.
The UNAHOTELS T Hotel Cagliari is located in the city centre making it the perfect option for your Sardinian stay: a 4-star design hotel with over 200 rooms and modern and versatile spaces.
The TBar, TBistrot and TGarden await you for your daily breaks, while the TRestaurant will delight you with the best of the Sardinian gastronomic tradition. The TSPA Wellness Centre, on the other hand, will allow you to relax and recharge.
The upcoming weeks, between May and June, are a great time to enjoy some of Italy's most beautiful Italian beaches and their enchanting locales. Now all you have to do is choose your favourite destination and pack your suitcase!
