A guided tour of the Colosseum
Everyone knows that the Colosseum is the number one symbol of Ancient Rome and Roman history. Even if children may at first find the idea boring, the monument hides so many amazing things that will make your visit memorable: things like the holes the lions came through when the fierce beasts were used to stage bloody battles, and the 350 different species of plants that have spontaneously taken root in the Colosseum’s ruins, including plants of exotic origin? And did you know that the Colosseum used to have its own elevators?

The Waxworks Museum
From Napoleon Bonaparte, who was crowned emperor at Notre Dame, to men of letters Oscar Wilde and Giacomo Leopardi, from Stalin and Mao Tse Tung to Francesco Totti and Brad Pitt... Rome’s famous waxworks museum has nothing to envy London’s Madam Tussaud’s. Indeed, it has the largest number of waxwork statues in Italy, and the third largest in Europe. Introduce your kids to a hundred or so statues of famous people and reconstructions of famous historical scenes and events, on a visit guaranteed to fascinate the entire family!
Explora: the Rome children’s museum
Who said science isn’t fun? At Explora, Rome’s Children’s Museum, young tourists try their hand at games and interactive exhibits on science, the environment, new technologies and educational activities of all kinds, from mechanics to physics, biology and much more, in a 2,000 m2 pavilion with fifteen different themed areas. But that’s not all. Throughout the year, Explora runs a busy activities programme and, when schools are out, it becomes a summer campus, welcoming kids during the holidays.
