Coppa Milano-Sanremo 2023: an edition not to be missed

Never before has there been such a rich programme for the historical re-enactment

22 Mar 2023

The Coppa Milano-Sanremo has become one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events of the year. The 14th edition, which will take place from 23 to 26 March, promises to be more spectacular than ever.

Class and elegance characterise this race steeped in history: it is in fact the oldest car race in our country, which since 2003 has become a highly appreciated historical re-enactment with several illustrious partners including Urban Up | Unipol.

Amidst incredible landscapes and historic towns, the Coppa Milano-Sanremo combines the value of tradition with the desire to stay current: a vision shared by the UNA Esperienze brand and the Milano Verticale | UNA Esperienze, hospitality partner of the event.

What’s new in the Coppa Milano-Sanremo 2023

The programme of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo has never been as rich as in this 2023.

In fact, the race will see the historic cars cover a distance of 900 km, a good 25% more than last year, and for the first time Milan will be both the starting and finishing point.

The re-enactment will not have, therefore, the usual ‘linear’ structure, but an unprecedented ‘circular’ one enriched by 113 special stages through the routes that touch on the three protagonist regions: LombardyPiedmont and Liguria

These logistical and sporting innovations lead to an increase in the duration of the competition from three to four days. The enthusiasm for the new format translates into an increase in the number of crews entered, which now stands at nearly a hundred, 30% more than the average.

The Coppa Milano-Sanremo is confirmed as the protagonist in the Aci Sport Italian Grand Prix Championship and promises to thrill fans and novices alike as never before.

The Coppa Milano-Sanremo route

The route of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo promises great surprises for the entered teams and spectators. It starts on Thursday 23 March, when the crews will be at the Monza circuit between 9 and 10 am for the first-time trials on one of the world’s most famous circuits.

The official opening will take place at the end of the day at the Milano Verticale | UNA Esperienze. The prestigious four-star hotel in the Porta Nuova district confirms itself as the characteristic setting of the event for the third consecutive year by hosting the official opening in the oasis of its 1,000 square metre urban garden. To welcome guests in the Piazzetta della Magnolia in front of the hotel entrance, a Merbag car show. The evening, for the participants of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo, will continue with a pleasant aperitif and dinner accompanied by elegant background music.

The start of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo will take place at first light on Friday 24th from Milan and will see the classic cars drive through the Monferrato area in the direction of Asti. Here they will animate the not-to-be-missed parade through the historic centre. Then they will move on to the Langhe area, with the suggestive Colle d’Oggia and Melogno.

After the various time and media tests, the second day will end in Sanremo with the traditional and eagerly awaited défilé along the streets of the city centre.

On Saturday 25, the Coppa Milano-Sanremo will start from the Ligurian town before passing through the medieval village of Zuccarello and arriving at the sea in the evocative setting of the Marina di Loano yacht club.

In the afternoon the crews will pass through the Colle del Melogno and Pontinvrea on their way to Genoa: in the heart of the city, the day will end with an exclusive gala dinner at the Acquario di Genova.

The gripping historic re-enactment comes to an end on Sunday: the cars will first pass through Monte Fasce and then into the territories of the Passo del Portello and Mongiardino Ligure, heading towards Pavia. Here the timed part of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo route will end, and they will head to Milan for the grand finale.

In the capital of Lombardy, you can witness the scenic arrival in the historic centre and on Corso Venezia: the appointment is at the headquarters of Aci Milano, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this 2023.

As part of the event, the customary Coppa delle Dame will be held, conceived at the beginning of the last century to celebrate the large number of female crews.
