Be a part of the chic magic at the Milan Fashion Week 2019.

31 Jan 2019

Milan is home to many of the world's top designers including Armani, Moschino, Prada, Valentino and Versace. You can always expect exciting shows featuring the most detailed and elegant designs.

Milan Fashion Week Dates and program.

This year, the Milan Fashion Week 2019 dates are planned for Tuesday 19th to Monday 25th February for the women's Autumn/Winter collections. Milan Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer collection 2020 is planned for September 18th to 24th 2019. Men's Fashion Week is usually held in January and June. As always, expect surprises from Fashion Week; there is always the possibility of shows happening a day before or after the planned dates.

Milan fashion shows: Italy and beyond.

Italian designers are featured heavily in Milan, but there also shows from global brands too. Shows from Jil Sander and Arthur Arbesser are held among the Gucci, Prada and Etro shows. Elegance and luxury are definitely the key themes throughout the fashion shows.

As fashion designers dictate the trends and styles we will all be wearing in the upcoming seasons, the fashion shows are vitally important for the industry. The pressure is on the designers and industry leaders to ensure that the shows are perfect and that the clothes can be produced for the general public. This makes for a hugely exciting period of time in Milan.

Designer Presentations in Milan.

Outside of the fashion shows, presentations are becoming more and more popular. Some designers, especially from shoe brands, prefer to present their collections in a more intimate setting. Designers can talk to the audience about their designs, the crowd can get closer than ever, and photographers can get better quality photos.

Milan Street Style.

What is being worn on the streets has become almost as important as what the models are wearing on the catwalk. Street style photography is a huge part of Fashion Week, giving magazines, blogs, and social media accessible fashion inspiration. It was once only the top designers that created trends, but now we see more and more that they are being inspired by the looks seen on the street, too.

Even if you are not attending any shows or events during this time, you will still see plenty of fashion. Sit outside a cafe in any piazza in Milan during Fashion Week and you will be able to enjoy the stylish and occasionally outlandish outfits of the fashion crowd.

Milan Fashion Week Shopping.

A trip to Milan Fashion Week in 2019 would not be complete without a little retail therapy for yourself. Fashion Week events are held around the city, and luckily there are also clothing boutiques, designer showrooms, and department stores everywhere, too. Quadrilatero della moda is the main fashion district right in the centre of Milan, near the stunning Cathedral.

Corso Vercelli and Via Belfiore are also popular shopping streets in Milan. With lots of clothing and shoe stores providing designer wares and offbeat vintage finds. At the ultra-modern development at Porta Nuova, Piazza Gae Aulenti is home to many designer stores. Nearby Corso Como offers shopping and dining experiences in beautiful surroundings.
