Milan Design Week 2024: events not to be missed

The exhibition programme and the neighbourhoods to visit

10 Apr 2024

Milan Design Week is one of the most anticipated events of the year: from 15 to 21 April 2024, the city will become the epicentre of cutting-edge design, conceptualization and the study of spaces with a "Natural Materials" theme.

In addition to the Salone del Mobile (furniture showcase) held in the Rho Fiera exhibition centre, now in its 62nd edition, the capital will also host the renowned Fuorisalone, the "parallel" event that enlivens the neighbourhoods of Milan with a packed program of events, exhibitions, and installations.

If you want to stay up to date on Milan Design Week, its rich programme and the neighbourhoods not to be missed during these days of creative excitement, this guide is all you need.

Design Week at Milano Verticale

For the second consecutive year, Milano Verticale | UNA Esperienze opens its doors to Fuorisalone. The prestigious hotel, located in the Garibaldi-Porta Nuova district , will host a selection of innovative design brands, whose installations can be visited throughout the duration of the event in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Thanks to its unconventional soul, the hotel is a perfect match for the creative context of Design Week.

Man Design Week Milano Verticale hotel

Among the brands exhibiting their design pieces at Milano Verticale | UNA Esperienze are Altissimomare with its innovative wallpapers, Marmolove's elegant decorative objects, ARQ fire extinguishing capsules by X-Fire, angular lamps by YOUMEAND and Dornbrach tapware. Additionally, you can find Rever with its exterior design, refined bathroom design by Gaia and Franke kitchens located in the internal garden.

Also not to be missed is the exhibition by the artist Stefano Canziani, organized by Chincarini Eventi and curated by Alessandro Levi: a collection of works inspired by Milan's verticality and its architecture that can be visited on the ground floor and 12th floor of the hotel.

Another great novelty presented by Milano Verticale | UNA Esperienze at Design Week is the revamped terrace on the fourth floor, a 260 sqm space with natural lighting and a LED wall. A unique location designed to host exclusive events in the heart of Milan throughout the year.

Milan Design Week: events

During Design Week, Milan hosts numerous events, well distributed across the city's different neighbourhoods, which come alive with interactive experiences, debates, workshops, and much more. The number of initiatives is so high that it can be challenging to navigate your way through them: here are some must-visit stops.

Milan Design Week 2024

Isola District – Porta Nuova

Isola is one of Milan's trendiest neighbourhoods, and during Design Week, it hosts the interesting Isola Design Festival 2024 – This Future is Currently Unavailable. It is a rich programme of exhibitions, installations and pop-up stores that involves many locations in the neighbourhood. Three hubs debuting this year are WAO PL7, Stecca 3.0 and Lampo Milano.

Old Town / Quadrilatero della Moda

Milan's city centre naturally plays a leading role during Design Week: the Università Statale will host the Interni Cross Vision exhibition, while Palazzo Reale will host the new edition of Grohe's Salus Per Aquam, but these are just two of the several events planned. In the direction of the Quadrilateralo, don't miss the MonteNapoleone Design Experience 2024, with many boutiquesshowcasing new and original looks.

Navigli and surroundings

The Navigli district is known, even to those from outside Milan, for its vibrant nightlife and for being home to many events: it's no wonder, then, that Design Week and its artists look to this area and its neighbouring ones (Darsena, Tortona, and Porta Romana) with great interest.

Among the many events, we highlight Canale a Colori, in the area between the iron bridge and the bridge of Via Valenzia sul Naviglio Grande, and the Tortona Design Week showcase.

Milano Design Week Brera

Brera Design District

Brera has planned a circuit of initiatives of its own for Design Week, a sort of "city within the city": at the Casa degli Artisti, for example, you'll find House of Switzerland, a hub where artists, studios, and galleries from the different cantons come together to work on well-being, circularity and our relationship with nature. Another open-access initiative is Città Miniera, in the historic headquarters of Corriere della Sera in Via Solferino.

Design Week is the ideal opportunity to rediscover Milan, which from 15 to 21 April is transformed, totally changing its appearance: lose yourself in the streets of the city, which during this period are more lively and engaging than ever.
