Exhibitions, performances and the best tennis players in the world, here's what to expect in Turin in November

7 Nov 2022

Turin is a city for enjoyment: birthplace of the Risorgimento, Piedmont's capital offers tourists and inhabitants a unique cultural soul full of timeless architectural beauties, exhibitions and endless spontaneous events.

Recently it hosted Artissima, Italy's most important contemporary art festival, and from 13 to 20 November at the Pala Alpitour it will be the turn of the Nitto ATP Finals, the tournament that concludes the world tennis season. For the occasion, the tourist classics will be joined by special events not to be missed.

There is always a good reason to visit Turin, a city which combines breath-taking buildings, entertainment and food and wine: it would be a shame to spend a few days in the city without enjoying agnolotti, braised meat, bagna caôda and the many other traditional dishes.

Turin: the home of the Nitto ATP Finals

For the second consecutive year Turin hosts the prestigious ATP Finals, the long-awaited event that concludes the world tennis season. The top 8 athletes in the ATP ranking compete in a tournament that has always been synonymous with great entertainment.

The opening day of the Finals is Sunday, November 13: from this day until November 19 there will be two sessions, one starting at 11.30 and one at 18.30, one singles and one doubles. On Sunday 20, however, there will be a single session to bring together the much-awaited finals from 16.00.

Il Principi di Piemonte | UNA Esperienze hosts the athletes and their entourages as in 2021 when Berrettini, Djokovic, Zverev and the other participants of the previous ATP Finals crossed the threshold of this five star venue in the center of the city.

For the occasion, the hotel will offer Smash - a special dedicated cocktail made with Martini, Vodka and cranberries juice (to mention just some of the ingredients), the ideal sequel to the lucky ACE, both created by the bartender Flavio Scanu for the ATP Finals 2021 - as a welcome drink.

And to celebrate this great tournament Turin is filled with events and dedicated installations: for example, from the afternoon of November 12th Palazzo Madama will host Casa Tennis where talks, conferences and interviews will be held.

In Piazza Grande Torino and Piazza d'Armi from 12 to 20 November the Fan Village comes to life, a covered area where you can taste local products and have fun with initiatives proposed by sponsors and partners of the event.

An area open from 9 am to midnight for ticket holders of the ATP Finals, while from 9 pm the entrance becomes free to the general public.

Turin: the classics and unusual places to visit

ATP Finals can also be an opportunity to rediscover Turin, a city that is always incredible to visit, full of timeless classics that convey the soul and history of the capital.

Among the things to see in Turin it is impossible not to mention the Mole Antonelliana, the city's symbol standing 167 metres tall; the small temple at 85 meters offers a unique view of Turin. In the complex there is also the famous National Cinema Museum, another must of the Savoy city.

And then there is the so-called "Turin Lounge", Piazza San Carlo. Here there are bars, bistrots and cafés that have marked the intellectual and cultural history of the city; you can also visit the baroque churches of Santa Cristina and San Carlo, considered "twins".

Not to mention Valentine's Park, the Chapel of the Holy Shroud in the Cathedral of San Giovanni, the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities and the Royal Gardens of the Reggia di Venaria. And you could go on and on with the list of all the iconic places to visit.

The secret Turin

Among the things to do in Turin you will also find the secret Turin: that side of the city that hosts the less talked about places compared to these traditional tourist routes.

One example is the Monte dei Cappuccini, which rises on the right bank of the Po and houses the Church of Santa Maria al Monte from which you can enjoy a special view.

Do you know Leumann Village? It is a self-contained neighbourhood that dates back to the late nineteenth century: Leumann, owner of a large cotton mill, decided to create a village for his employees with houses, schools, shops and services.

Even if today the factory is no longer there, the village is still open to visitors: a pearl of the Art Nouveau style and a way to live a bygone era.

Exhibitions in Turin

There are so many events and exhibitions that animate Turin and the month of November is no exception.

One of the most appreciated is Brick Art, the exhibition of bricks, which awaits you in Palazzo Barolo from November 2 to January 29, 2023. An exhibition with millions of coloured bricks for young and old and an entire section dedicated to the most iconic places in Turin.

Until February 19, 2023, the Chiablese Rooms of the Royal Museums of Turin host Focus on Future, an important photographic exhibition on a delicate theme such as the fragilities of our planet and the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.

Moving on to the art classics, from 12 November to 19 February the kitchens of the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi become the home of an unprecedented exhibition: Salvador Dalì – The Exhibition. A unique way to relive all sides of the career of the master of Surrealism.

Turin is a city that always knows how to amaze thanks to the many cultural and sports events.

The ATP Finals in Turin illuminate the city with the shots of the best tennis players in the world. Whether you are heading to the Pala Alpitour to see the great champions face each other or just want to breathe this atmosphere in the streets of the capital, prepare yourself for an incredible experience.
