Gruppo UNA
Exhibitions, temporary exhibitions, events and initiatives continue to enliven Venice’s cultural milieu, not just its glorious past but the avant-garde Art trends the city has long attracted. Come with us on this tour of modern art in Venice.
Ca’ Pesaro Galleria Internazionale d’Arte Moderna
Our tour could only start in one place: the Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Venezia, in the magnificent Ca’ Pesaro palazzo. Visitors are stunned as soon as they walk in to the spacious hallway, which on one side overlooks the Grand Canal, on the other an internal courtyard that leads to the Museum. The palazzo’s ceilings are richly decorated with frescoes and oil paintings by artists of the calibre of Bambini, Pittoni, Crosato, Trevisani, and Brusaferro. A not-to-be-missed place! Venice Biennale
Our modern art tour naturally takes in the Venice Biennale, one of the world’s pre-eminent cultural foundations. Since 1895, it has put on an International Art Exhibition better known as the Venice Biennale, which has long been one of the world’s most important and prestigious international art events. In 2022, the 59th edition is “The Milk of Dreams”, a title from a book by surrealist artist Leonora Carrington filled with fantastical creatures and other transformational figures, taking visitors on a fantastical journey through the metamorphoses of human bodies and definitions.
Peggy Guggenheim Collection
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, one of the most important museums of 20th-century European and American modern art in Italy, was the brainchild of Peggy Guggenheim. Her collection was exhibited at the first post-war Venice Biennale in 1948. Until September 26, visitors to the Surrealism and Magic: Enchanted Modernity exhibition may admire works by artists like Victor Brauner, Leonora Carrington and Salvador Dalí.
Modigliani Opera Vision
Curated by the Amedeo Modigliani Foundation, with the partnership of Gruppo UNA, the “Modigliani Opera Vision” exhibition is on at the “Santa Maria della Pietà” Istituto Provinciale per l’Infanzia until April 2023. The exhibition takes visitors on an immersive, multi-faceted recounting of Modigliani’s artistic journey in a 270° cinema.
