Rules and tips for travelling with a pet

7 Nov 2024

Travelling with your pets has never been easier. An ever-increasing number of hotels are adopting a pet-friendly philosophy, offering dedicated services and amenities for your four-legged friends.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, a family holiday or  a business trip, being able to rely on hotels equipped to welcome cats and dogs is an advantage for guests who prefer to bring their pets with them when they travel.

Explore a range of pet-friendly hotels ready to offer you and your pet a memorable stay.

Tips for travelling with pets

When planning a trip with your pet, there are a number of things you should bear in mind. For example, try to book well in advance: pet-friendly hotels may have limited availability and it is always better to make sure that there is room for your pet!

It is also important to bring everything you need: not just food and bowls, but also medicines and toys, which will help your pet settle in more quickly. To make things easier, try to get your cat/dog used to unfamiliar spaces before you set off, rendering this change of scene less stressful.

Prepare an emergency kit that contains, for example, health-related documentation and contact information for local vets, and, when possible, try as best you can to stick to your regular schedule for meals and walks. This also applies in the case of longer journeys; take a break every 2-3 hours to let your pet have a stretch and play.

Regole per un soggiorno pet-friendly

Our UNA Esperienze, UNAHOTELS and UNAWAY facilities across Italy have a pet policy designed to ensure that both animals and guests can enjoy their stay to the full.

  • We welcome dogs of up to 25 kg and cats up to 3 kg in weight.
  • When checking in, you will be asked to show your pet’s healthcare record complete with vaccination information. In the absence of these records, you will be required to sign a declaration certifying your pet's state of health.
  • You will be held liable for the repair and/or replacement of any items stained or damaged by your pet, as well as for any harm or damages suffered by other guests.
  • Pets are allowed in common areas and along the route between your room and the hotel entrance if accompanied, but they are not allowed in the bar, restaurant, wellness centre, swimming pool, meeting room or toilet areas. These restrictions are not applicable to service or emotional support animals.
  • Always ensure that your pet is accompanied, to prevent damage or undesirable situations both for yourself and for the other guests. When moving around the hotel, dogs must be kept on a leash and muzzled, and cats must be kept in a pet carrier.
  • For your pet's safety and comfort, your room will only be cleaned while your pet is under your supervision.
  • The charge for pets, including cleaning, is € 30 at the Principi di Piemonte | UNA Esperienze and € 15 at other UNA Esperienze, UNAHOTELS and UNAWAY establishments.
